ABOUT

The Wentworth Hotel in Sydney is best known for its unique semi circular courtyard sitting on top of the wavy podium and surrounded by the hotel rooms. The brief asked for an extension of the hotel’s hospitality spaces onto its courtyard via a pavilion.

The design dramatises the courtyard geometry by weaving a web of strings inbetween the window openings, which all converge into a single continuous surface, covering a new event space.

The difficult geometry of the hotel is turned into an opportunity to create a unique space for events and meetings, out of one single material, a PTFE membrane stretched over a stainless steel cable net.

A new iconic bold for this aging icon.
